The Collin�s Diner A National Historic Landmark is an Original 1941 Jerry O�Mahony design. The Collin�s Diner named for the original proprietors who started their business with a horse drawn eatery during the early 1900�s was placed at its present location, 53 Main Street, Railroad Plaza (at Routes 44 and 7), North Canaan, Connecticut 06018 in 1941 and is the ONLY design of its kind in the world which sits on its own �island� which is still in operation. Mike Hamzy (the son of an American G.I.) bought the diner in the late 60�s and he and his wife Aida operated and their three children [Doonia (the World in Lebanese Arabic), Ameen (Trustworthy in Lebanese Arabic) and Bader (Full Moon in Lebanese Arabic) and her children Danielle (God is my Judge in French) and Nameer (Wholesome, Good in Lebanese Arabic)], who still operate this Historic American Diner for more than 42 years; Always with a great staff. The Diner serves AMERICAN comfort food with a few Lebanese delicacies...
